For Whom The Bell Toils

Created 2017
For Whom The Bell Toils is an interactive art installation designed to make space for acknowledging and honoring the grief and work around the end of life.

This piece is made of a wide variety of bells, all labeled with some sort of labor required at the end of life and after death. Viewers are invited to ring the bells that resonate with their own experiences, creating a melody of their labor and grief. Additional bells and labels are available for viewers to add new experiences that had not been previously included allowing for a dynamic, collaborative growth within the piece.

This piece was been selected to be a part of Death & The Maiden: An Interdisciplinary Conference Exploring The Relationship Between Women And Death at the University of Winchester. Learn More...
"For Whom The Bell Toils" is a sister piece to "Carillon"

“I wanted to take a moment to share my gratitude to you for your performance tonight. I recently lost a grandmother from my family of origin with whom I’ve been disconnected for near a decade. It was an enormous shift in my grieving process and I am so grateful for the aid you provided me tonight.”
